Influence of a Reference Plate in Evaluation of an Electromagnetic Wave Absorber by Free Space Method

چکیده

The influence of the curvature of a conductor plate used as a reference in free space method is considered both by experiments and by theoretical computations. First, it is observed that the reflection coefficient varies as much as 3 dB by changing the orientation or the surface of the plate. Next, a numerical simulation is performed using physical optics approximation method. It is confirmed that a reflection coefficient changes depending on the arrangement of the iron plate. Moreover, it is numerically examined how the radiation pattern of the reflected wave is affected by the size of the conductor plate. Finally, the surface current induced on the iron plate is calculated. The difference from the plane wave illumination case, as well as the peak position shift, is shown.
